Leaning toward Lucy for these reasons

To the Editor:

Like many of us, I’ve been following the Cambridge-Waterville Vermont House race between Lucy Rogers and Zac Mayo with interest.

I can’t say I’m thrilled with either major party right now, but I am thrilled by the race these two are running, and am delighted to see two such sincere and intelligent young candidates for this office.

That said, I’m leaning towards Lucy, because:

• I agree with her support local control of our schools, and her ideas for making Vermont more affordable for all of us.

• I am impressed by Lucy’s desire and ability to reach across traditional lines to meet, and listen to, everyone in our community. She has already visited both my house and my business, eager to hear my concerns.

• I believe Lucy has the intelligence, work ethic, organizational skills and humility to represent us in the best possible ways.

And if that isn’t enough, Lucy’s experience grappling with grizzlies in Canada should be a breeze, compared to prodding perpetual politicians. After all, while the one is a vicious, belligerent backbiter, the other is only a bear.
