Vermont needs to allocate more resources for infrastructure in rural places. The most pressing needs are to:
Expand public transportation
Not only is this the environmentally responsible way forward, it also particularly serves older Vermonters and lower-income Vermonters. It is nearly impossible to live in towns like Cambridge and Waterville without a car, and yet there are members of our community who cannot drive for health reasons or because they cannot afford required maintenance on their vehicles.
Increase high quality internet access
In order to convince younger Vermonters, those who work from home, and business owners to live and work in towns like Cambridge and Waterville, high quality Internet access is crucial.
improve our road systems
This issue that comes up time and time again as I knock on doors in Cambridge and Waterville. There is a need for greater investment in Vermont’s road systems, particularly in rural places like Cambridge and Waterville.
